day 1 crufts

Wow- what a first daySmile

We had a leisurely start compared to trade friends who at to be at the NEC at 7am this morning but we met some fantastic people, made some great sales and met dogs i'd never even heard of.  I could tell it was going to be a good day when the first person i met in the entrance to the NEC came rushing up after he spotted my Dicky Bag desperate to know where he could get one.  He'd promised is Aunt an pink flower bag and wasn't about to disappoint her.

Next I learnt that my friend Olivia who's Brindle Great Dane had qualified for Crufts had got a 3rd place was a fantastic achievement for them both.

We met some old friends like, Tina from SSAFA, who was proudly sporting her large Camo bag and made some new ones like Nicola at the Cinnamon Trust and the dog wardens on the NDWA stand.

I'm enjoying my rest back at the hotel but can't wait to see what tomorrow may bring.

Sorry no Large Blue Beach

Sorry to disappoint you guys, but our large blue beach bag has been so popular we have currently run out of stock.  The new shipment should be with us in the next 10-14 days, so i'm afraid you'll have to continue carrying your bags of dog poo in your hand for a little bit longer or choose one of our other stylish colours.  If you can't be satisfied by any of our other offerings then simply go to the shopping cart and click on the large Blue Beach and we will notify you when the stock has arrived.

try and spot us at Crufts

Just about to set off for Birmingham for our first taste of Crufts.  I know it's the biggest dog show in the world but i don't think i'm fully prepared for how big that is.  We will be there for the full 4 days and if I don't pass out from exhaustion the minute I get back to my hotel room I promise to keep you all posted on our progress.  If any of you are going along to crufts yourselves then be sure to look out for us - we might have to see who can get the best photo of us, we'll be easy to spot in our Dicky Bag "Crap Idea" shirts.  If you don't see us, don't worry we're not that special, but do go and see the Dicky Bags, they're on the Doggy Stylin Stand which is in hall 1 stand 39.

Wish me luck!Wink

The Debate on Compulsory Dog Insurance

I woke up this morning and the first thing I heard on the radio was the news that it has been suggested the way to reduce the incidents of dogs attacking people and other animals is to make every dog owner take out a form of liability insurance.  It is now 1pm and frankly I'm sick of hearing everyone and his dog (sorry bad use of the term) giving their views on us dog owners.  Surely we are capable of deciding for ourselves whether or not our dog is likely to be vicious and responsible enough to restrain them where necessary and if we want to have the safe guard of insurance to organise and purchase it.

If any one is interested in my point of view here it is.

Who runs the insurance companies?  That's right the rich powerful people who are closely linked to or like to fund political parties or indeed ex politicians. Surprised

Who wins in the insurance game,  is it the insured or the insurance company?  Right again the insurance company. Surprised

Do you know of any poor insurance companies? No Money mouth

So in summary, us the poor public will yet again be lining the pockets of the rich and powerful becuase someone has told us we must, on a pointless and useless insurance which will only be purchased by law obiding people who don't own dangerous dogs.  It won't stop people owning dangerous dogs, much like car insurance doesn't stop joy riding, and who is going to police it?

I must admit I had to check my calendar to check it wasn't April 1st!!Wink

Lovely Lanyards

Barry and I spent a very productive afternoon at the factory on Thursday last week putting together our Belts and Lanyards.

Thanks to the suggestions of our customers who love the bag but sometimes struggle to find place to attach it we have designed an adaptable belt/lanyard to use with your Dicky Bag.

There will be 2 sizes made and they are fully adjustable so you can attach it like a belt if you are in the ring or out running and don't want the bag to swing about or over one shoulder or across the body.  At present we only have the prototypes but rest assured that when we get the bulk order in they will be as stylish and reliable as the Dicky Bag itself.
