Fears over Poodle Cross Breeding

Poodles are well known for their intelligence, good nature and most recently for their hair retention which has made them a popular choice for cross breeding.  You can get anything from a cockerpoo to a labradoodle with people experimenting with all types and breeds of dogs.

However a worrying site outside a local shop raises the question, has this cross breeding fashion gone a step too far?

No name has been given to this crazy cross breed, feel free to make your own suggestions!

Top Dog Names of 2010

Each year dogs everywhere look forward with anticipation to Petfinder.com releasing its list of most popular dog names for the year.  They do cat names too but I'm not particularly interested in those... and for good reason I'm sure you'll agree!

The list includes the top 10 most popular celebrity-inspired pet names and I thought it might be a nice way to round off 2010 if we had a little look at the movers and shakers of the year!

For a fourth year in a row, Buddy stayed in the number one spot for dogs which is hardly surprising considering that's exactly what we are - the most fantastic Buddies on the planet!

Here are the complete lists for the most popular adoptable pet names of 2010.

Top 10 Dog Names:

  • 1. Buddy
  • 2. Max
  • 3. Daisy
  • 4. Bella
  • 5. Lucy
  • 6. Jack
  • 7. Molly
  • 8. Charlie
  • 9. Sadie
  • 10. Rocky

Top 10 Most Popular Celebrity-Inspired Pet Names:

  • 1. Elvis
  • 2. Houdini
  • 3. Cher
  • 4. Madonna
  • 5. Twiggy
  • 6. Oprah
  • 7. Lady Gaga
  • 8. Beyonce
  • 9. Coco Chanel
  • 10. Shakira
Now I don't know about you but if someone called out "Lady Gaga!!" in the park I would be extremely embarrassed for the dog in question!  Something on a parr with when your human has chosen a Dicky Bag that is a size too small for you - terrible!
However I have to say I know a cocker spaniel named "Beyonce" who is quite the queen of woofiliciousness!
So, if you are looking to add another member to your pack in 2011 will you be going with a name from the 2010 list or will you be calling out something else on your walkies?
Enjoy the New Years celebrations (but don't forget we dogs aren't too keen on Fireworks!) and I'll see you on the other side!

A New Years Resolution for you to consider...

So here we are at the beginning of another year and I've got a proposition for all you dog owners out there...

You see your loyal and trustee companion's (for the most part) can't type and haven't yet learnt to master the art form of blogging as I have (but give them time...) and so I feel it is my duty as their official spokesperson to ask you to please include the following in your new years resolutions:

  • Go for more frequent or longer walks with your dog (even if it's just another 5 minutes or perhaps even sitting in the garden together for a few minutes enjoying a one to one chat)
  • Play with your dog a little more each day - even if it's just one more 2 minute mess around he/she will love you for it!
  • Give your dog a few more cuddles each day - to show them how much you appreciate having them around.
  • Always be responsible and carry your Dickybag with pride!
If you do each of these things, believe me, your dog will pay you back 100 times over in love and affection and your days will be even happier than they are now!
Thank you for listening
Dicky Dog
P.S - I'm now going to print up this page and leave it in my bed for my humans to find.  I'm sure they will be impressed with how my spelling has come on in the past year!

Festive Frolics...

Ah... Christmas... isn't it a wonderful time of year?

Personally I'm a little concerned about my humans who seem to have over indulged in a few too many mince pies and Christmas pudding helpings which is evidenced by the fact that they are all walking around with the top button on their trousers undone and a rather bloated appearance in general...

I've been trying to get them to walk it off (I really wanted to show off my new GOLD dickybag) but it seems the best they can manage at the moment is a slow trundle... never mind, I'm sure they will have all sorts of grand plans in the form of New Years resolutions shortly and then fitness will (again) be top of their To Do list!

It's so exquisite I've been leaving it hanging on the Christmas tree as a bauble in between walks - just delightful it is!

Anyway... as we wave goodbye to the Christmas cheer I just wanted to share this delightful video of some doggy pals singing a Christmas song for you!

Until the next time!

I have had my Dicky bag a while now and I have not had a single split poo bag since. I store a ball in it when we set off; the dog carries the ball home and by then the bag is full of poo.

I have the extra large bag 2 collies and a heinz 57 it is easily big enough. Most impressivly, I forgot to empty it last monday and 7 days later the smell had STILL not escaped from the bag!

I am so impressed with the bag that I have stopped people on walks who are struggling with poo bags to tell them about it.

You must remember to grip the air freshener when you empty it though or it ends up in the bin with the poo.
