Dicky Dog Blog

I have just adopted a rescue dog. I always clear up after him, even in the countryside, and must say that I found carrying the poo in poly bags rather uncomfortable. More than once I forgot what I was carrying, when waving at people I knew, and waved the poo bag at them, looking forward to solving the problem!

Was great to meet you at Crufts on Saturday. I went with the intention of buying a bag for myself and one for my parents, so I was relieved when I eventually found you!

As for the bag, all I can say is....love it! (I did get asked this morning if it was a raincoat for Poppy - that made me laugh!). Am so glad my days of holding poo bag at arms length are over. Fantastic product idea and well made - thank you!

I write tonight with sore feet, aching legs and a brain that's turned to mush.

Sunday at crufts was even busier than saturday and the public were on a mission to spend money.  Barry and I spent many hours demonstrating the Dicky Bag to inquisitive visitors which resulted in numerous sales and some very silly comments.  It turns out that men seem  to think it's ok to use bags of dog poo to keep their hands warm in the winter (call me traditional but i find gloves a far more affective and appealing solution).  I don't know if they've all been reading the same joke book but 6 men gave me that excuse today.  Get a life fellas!

However the prize for "Best In Show " comment has to go to the lady who proudly told us that she uses biodegradable pick up bags for her dog poo so that she can throw it into the bushes .  Yes she openly admitted that she did that!  One of my most hated sights is the copius bags of dog poo that are thrown into the hedgerows along the Cornish coast path and here i was confronted by a person who thought that because she used biodegradable bags she could just dump her rubbish anywhere she fancied and saw nothing wrong in it.  Needless to say we parted company with very different views on the subject

Well that's all from crufts this year, didn't get to see much of the dog show and in fact haven't got a clue who won, i'm sure i'll see it on the news, but one thing i do know is that a lot more people know about the Dicky Bag, at least 100 more people own a dicky bag and barry and i over the last 4 days have sold our socks off!

Boy am i getting tired!!

Saturday, when the 9-5's get their chance to experience crufts, and they come in their thousands

Today we spent most of our time on the doggy stylin stand to help the guys with the mass influx of people.  We met so many great people today that i would like to thank all our fans and supporters for seeking us out to either buy more dicky bags for friends and family or simply to tell us and other visitors to the stand, let's call them Dicky Bag virgins, how great the bag is.

We could show them our new lanyards and the prototype of the XL professional size dicky bag which they loved and tried to make us part with.  Remember guys, patience is a virtue, you can get your hands on our newest bag in about 2 weeks, the wait will be worth it!!

The panic set in around 2pm when we were in danger of running out of stock, thankfully there are a few that have been kept back so as not to disappoint the Sunday visitors, but don't leave it too late to buy yours you may be disappointed and i wouldn't want that.

Magazine day Today.

We were lucky enough to meet the lovely Hannah, assistant editor of Dogs Monthly magazine who has recently done her own product testing of the Dicky Bag.  She loves the bag, from it’s carefully thought our design through to the choice of colours and patterns and is a complete convert.  Her write up should be appearing in the May edition where she gives it a double thumbs up.  Next we met up with Sarah the editor of Your Dog magazine.  We relished the chance to show her the dicky bag in person and describe the purpose and benefits and she too is now very keen to do their own testing of the product.

One of our most interesting encounters today was with Steve Mann, him of BBC TV’s Underdog Fame.  He came to see his colleague Kate on the Doggy Stylin stand (hall 1 stand 39) and told us how he was recently involved with the filming of Liza and Huey’s Pet Nation for Sky 1 and the subject of their filming was the Dicky Bag so I can’t wait to find out more about that.
