Dog Fouling Academy

What! Surprised

It's a special one day seminar run by Keep Britain Tidy for over 140 councils to make them aware of the problems of dog fouling (like they don't already know) and to offer ideas and solutions to the problem.  We have been invited along to introduce them to the Dicky Bag which has been identified as a solution to all their problems.  As the new government takes power I think we all know we are in for some tough times with budget cuts so more councils are likely to take the view of Wokingham borough council who took out 245 dog bins last year and saved themselves £60,000.

We are hoping that along with these extreme measures the councils will have the forethought to offer their residents an alternative to dog bins just like Conwy council have and invest in Dicky Bags enabling dog owners to transport their dogs waste as far as necessary to the nearest bin or even to their homes.

Useful App for your iPhone

For all you dog owners out there that own an iPhone here's a great tip on a free application.  The National Trust have an app available which not only gives you details of your nearest National Trust property to your current location but will also show you how to get there on google maps.  It's a great little app which can open up a raft of new places to explore and walk your dog, it may even be a dicky bag stockist, and the what's more it's absolutley free.

New Outlets

Just a quick note to let you know that you can now purchase Dicky Bags at 7 National Trust Properties around the Country.  These are Trelissick and Carnewas in Cornwall, Knightshayes and Killerton in Devon, Box Hill in Surrey, Felbrigg in Norfolk and Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire.  You can now enjoy a great day out with your dog and not have to worry about carrying that bag of dog poo.  If you've got a National Trust Property near you why not pop in and see if they have joined our list of outlets.

Dicky Bag review in Dogs Monthly

Make sure you get your copy of June's Dog Monthly Magazine which will be in the shops from the 6th May.  The assistant editor of the magazine, Hannah Graham, trialled the Dicky Bag and her full review will be published in June's edition.  Dogs Monthly is reported to be the UK's fastest growing dog magazine and they have some fascinating articles about dogs and their owners, new products and great ideas on where to walk your dogs and fun activities and pastimes.

Top 5 facts about Dog Poo

I know it's not a nice subject but I find myself getting increasingly annoyed by silly comments made by people in an atempt to justify why they don't pick up their dogs mess.  Like most people I used to believe that the worst thing about dog poo was stepping in it or getting it on the wheels of pushchairs or bikes but after some research I've discovered there is a far more sinister consequence and there is not such thing as leaving dog poo to break down "naturally".
